UPDATE: Diversey Announces MoonBeam™3 Effective Against SARS-CoV-2 in Seconds
Diversey, Inc., a global leader in healthcare and infection prevention solutions, today announced it has received confirmation through third party testing that MoonBeam™3 UV-C disinfection technology is effective in just seconds against SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19.
MoonBeam™3 is an ultraviolet-C disinfection device that adds assurance beyond manual cleaning and disinfection. This portable, powerful solution disinfects quickly, reliably and responsibly. MoonBeam3 is cost-effective and designed for fast disinfection of public and high risk areas. The system offers three individually-adjustable arms that can be positioned at almost any angle, optimizing disinfection energy to allow dosing of both horizontal and vertical surfaces, in just 3 minutes.
MoonBeam3 has undergone third party testing against several microorganisms including enveloped viruses, small non-enveloped viruses, bacteria and bacterial spores. These tests have demonstrated a significant log reduction in these key pathogens.
Since studies have shown that contamination of environmental surfaces in healthcare facilities with SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA is widespread, Diversey commissioned 3rd party testing of MoonBeam3 in the US, and has also partnered with the highly respected Fujita Health University in Japan, to test the effectiveness of the MoonBeam3 against SARS-CoV-2. The completed test results from Japan proved that MoonBeam3 was effective against SARS-CoV-2 under a range of conditions with contact times as low as 4 seconds for a 6 log reduction.
This study validates that MoonBeam3 is effective against SARS-CoV-2, the pathogen that causes COVID-19.
ACMH continues to demonstrate leadership in infection prevention practices, reducing the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
The hospital has added new Diversey® MoonBeam™3 UV disinfection devices for use in patient rooms and operating rooms. The Diversey® MoonBeam™3 system uses powerful ultraviolet (UV) technology to kill pathogens on high-touch surfaces in patient rooms, operating rooms, and bathrooms. Designed to be used in conjunction with regular cleaning and disinfection, MoonBeam™3 provides a new angle in UVC disinfection.
Rooms are first cleaned using the traditional processes, following protocol. ACMH staff then deploys MoonBeam™3 for effective and chemical-free UV light energy to help eradicate potential remaining pathogens such as C. diff, MRSA, and more. Its three adjustable arms allow users to target the UVC dose, taking disinfection to the next level to improve patient outcomes. It is ultra-portable, fast, affordable, effective and easy-to-use.
With these added methods of infection prevention, ACMH Hospital can continue to improve the quality of the environment of care within its facilities.
