Wound Healing Center

When a wound fails to heal following 6-8 weeks of standard medical care it is considered a chronic or non-healing wound.  More than 10 million Americans suffer with non-healing wounds.  If you are one of them, you may benefit from the services offered at the ACMH Wound Healing Center (WHC).

The WHC staff is dedicated to caring for people with difficult wounds by combining common sense medical care with the most advanced wound care technologies.  The goal of our team of physicians, nurses, and physical therapists is to provide individualized treatements which decrease the cost and time associated with problem wound healing.  The wounds most commonly treated at the Wound Center are:

  • Diabetic ulcers
  • Venous ulcers
  • Ischemic/arterial ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Radiation related tissue damage
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Non-healing surgical wounds

At the WHC we treat the whole person, not just the wound.  Some of the services you may expect to receive at our Center include:

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
  • Vascular (blood vessels) assessment including determination of ankle-brachial indices and vein competence
  • Scientifically proven treatment protocols that include advanced wound care technologies such as topical growth factor therapy, negative pressure therapy, bioengineered skin substitutes and advanced dressing materials
  • Access to investigation protocols and the latest in new therapies
  • Collaboration with physical therapists for adjunctive wound care treatments such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and compression pumping and wrapping
  • Collaboration with specialist in lymphadema management including manual lymph drainage
  • Collaboration with podiatry and orthotists for determination of appropriate footwear and off loading techniques
  • Nutritional assessment and intervention
  • Pain assessment and intervention
  • Infection assessment and intervention
  • Patient and family education
  • Collaboration with your personal or extended care facility and home health agencies

In addition, any patient with chronic swelling, which is unrelieved by conventional medical care, may benefit from our lymphadema services.

We also offer Outpatient Ostomy Services.  Ostomy patients may receive qualified, experienced care in the ACMH WHC on an outpatient basis by calling 724-543-8536.
