Skilled Nursing Unit

The Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU) at ACMH Hospital is a 17-bed unit designed to provide services to individuals who are medically stable enough to be discharged from a hospital setting but who still need additional services for a short time.  These services may include:

- IV Fluids or Medications

- Physical, Occupational or Speech/Language Therapy

- Wound Care

- Pain Management

ACMH SNU is a short-stay, hospital-based skilled nursing unit. Residents typically stay 7-10 days before being discharged home or to a community setting such as a Personal Care Facility. While operating under a specific skilled nursing license, being located within the hospital facilitates physician involvement and affords easier access to medical testing and emergency medical support than what may be offered at a community-based skilled nursing facility.

The SNU accepts referrals from ACMH Hospital and, as bed availability permits, from other hospitals. A physician must certify that there is a medical need for a SNU admission. Physicians with admitting privileges at ACMH Hospital may attend to their own patients, if they desire, or the services of an ACMH Hospitalist physician may be utilized. Physicians see SNU residents as needed, but not necessarily on a daily basis.

The ACMH SNU is part of a continuum of care including Hospital, Acute Rehab and Outpatient treatment. The unit, conveniently located on the second floor of ACMH Hospital, offers private rooms with free parking for family and visitors.
