Obstetrics
'Wee Care' at ACMH Hospital
Each year, approximately 600 newborns get their "first hug" at ACMH Hospital,
and their numbers are growing. The OB Department offers a home-like
environment with gentle, warm colors and soft lighting. The unit also
features 2 LDPR (Labor/Delivery/
Recovery/Postpartum) rooms featuring oak
armoires, rocking chairs and plenty of room for mom and baby. The entire
birthing process takes place in this cozy setting. Like all other
inpatient rooms, ACMH Hospital features all private rooms.
Before going home, each newborn receives an infant hearing screening funded through a grant from the PA Department of Health. The OB staff also has a variety of ongoing classes for parents, siblings and families. One program is dedicated to "Baby's First Massage" and all newborns are "serenaded" as "Rock-a-Bye-Baby" plays over the public address system while their "hospital family" welcomes them into the world.
Classes and programs include:
- Prenatal Classes
- Mother's Tea
- Siblings Classes
- Breastfeeding Classes
